Actor Frank Lammers is our new ambassador

The WEC is happy to welcome actor Frank Lammers as its new ambassador. The actor and filmmaker will now be actively and generously supporting the WEC’s mission: to raise awareness and engagement regarding the Wadden Sea and its inhabitants. Their shared conviction is: “Of course you care.”

Passionate for many years

Lammers has been a enthusiast of the Wadden Sea region for many years, and of Terschelling in particular. Earlier, on the television programme Reizen Waes, he introduced presenter Tom Waes to ‘his’ island and the unique nature, culture and atmosphere of the Wadden Sea region.

Together for future generations

For Lammers, a love of the Wadden Sea is a key driving force. This commitment fits perfectly with the WEC’s mission: to inspire as many people as possible to experience the Wadden Sea, protect it and pass it on to future generations.

“The Wadden Sea is one of the most beautiful areas we have,” says Frank Lammers. “I’ve been visiting it for years and always enjoy it immensely; I never cease to be amazed by the peace and quiet, the open spaces and the natural surroundings. The WEC brings that story to life in a wonderful way. Of course you do your bit for the Wadden."

The WEC is also proud of this partnership. “Frank has a way of inspiring people with his enthusiasm and has shown us that he has a genuine love for the Wadden Sea region,” explains Bas Wemmenhove, Director of the WEC. “His commitment helps to draw even more attention to the beauty and fragility of the Wadden Sea.”

At the same time as the first pup

During Frank Lammers’ first visit to the WEC as an ambassador, the intake of the first common seal pup of the pup season took place entirely separately: Matcha. The pup had been found the night before by sailors, next to their beached boat, where he was calling out loudly in search of his mother. The pup is now staying at the seal hospital, where he will have the chance to grow up healthy.

Over the coming period, Frank Lammers and the WEC will work together to further develop the ambassadorial role. The focus will be on how stories from the Wadden Sea region can continue to inspire a wide audience, both now and in the future.
